Make it Modern with Riley Blake Designs

This Modern Make features Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons.

With so many colors to choose from, it's so easy to use this fabric line!

I created this pillow as a sampler to my It's a Colorful Life quilt pattern that will come out later in 2022. The pattern came to me while watching one of my favorite holiday movies - It's a Wonderful Life!

I used Confetti Cottons in Riley White, Waterfall, Violet, Cobalt, Emerald City, Lemon Zest, Riley Orange, Riley Red, and Riley Black.

This pillow can be made with fat quarters. Here's how I made this pillow:

Cut 2" x WOF from Waterfall, Violet, Cobalt, Emerald City, Lemon Zest, and Riley Orange.

Make 12.5" strips of Cobalt and Emerald City.

Make 9.75" strips of Violet and Lemon Zest.

Make 7" strips of Waterfall and Riley Orange.

Make 3" squares of Riley White and Riley Red.

Cut 2.5" x WOF from Riley Black.

Make 2 - 8.5" and 2 - 12.5" strips of Riley Black.

Piece as per the photo below.

Quilt as you prefer. I used a crease marking tool with my square ruler to mark my fabric for quilting.

I followed the quilt marks with a light blue thread to give some contrast and depth to my pillow.

Add a backing to the quilted piece to allow for a pillow form to be added. The pillow turns out to be about 12" square. Use a 12" pillow form to stuff your pillow.
